Jacqui Miot has a Pharmacy degree (1989, South Africa) and a PhD in Neuropharmacology (1995, London University). She has worked in the field of managed care for over 12 years, mainly with Discovery Health, the largest private healthcare funder in South Africa. She ran Discovery’s Clinical Policies Unit until the end of 2004, and then headed up the Health Economics Unit in Discovery Health until end of 2008, where HTA, health economic models, and registries play a critical role in clinical decision-making. Currently, Jacqui is a part-time senior lecturer in the Division of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She also does consulting work in health economics and is involved in a number of projects for the Department of Health in the medicines sector. Jacqui serves on the ExCo of the ISPOR South Africa chapter and is current Chairperson of the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA), South Africa. She has a number of publications in medical, pharmaceutical and scientific journals and has presented at both local and international medical, pharmaceutical and health economic forums and conferences. |
